It depends how one defines Cartoons. entire comic books and strips have been either drastically edited, or yanked off the shelves. at times the reasons were relatively innocuous. a character in a detective series ( Phantom Lady) had the secret identity of Joan Knight. ( censors barked, thought it was making fun of Joan of Arc- no similarity in costume) anyhing remotely anti-religious would get the hook as stated with Joan Knight- and doubtless others- for some reason they ignored Disney"s sly digs against religion. some cartoons had very negative takes on law enforcement officers and even showed the Police in a somewhat negative light ( burly cops breaking up demonstrations and holding back crowds from accident sites) for example, while mothers and guardians are crying ( My Baby! My Child is in there ( damage scene) I could go on and on. as usual excessive violent can get stuff canned, as with certain plot twists of an occult or morbid nature. Showing a Girl in an Anthony Flask ( suspended animation device) is illegal on TV but okay in some comic books if she has her clothes on. the allusion to necrophilia is obvious. don"t be a zombie.
Well, all the good Cartoons were cancelled. Toonami has been recently cancelled, which has made it worse. Well, all the good cartoons were cancelled. Toonami has been recently cancelled, which has made it worse.
No there is no official cartoon that handles this. There have been some underground cartoons which have handled this subject but there have never been any official cartoons.
Compared to what? Tom and Jerry? Bugs Bunny (vs Elmer Fudd W/ shotgun)? Punch and Judy? Road Runner? The violence has always been there, what has been added is a plot.
